What is RTLS?

RTLS is short for Real-Time Locating System, a sensor-based technologie that can detect objects, persons and much more inside and outside. When it comes to application, various radio technologies can be used for implementing a system such as RTLS.

Because this signal has a unique identifier, any number of beacons can be clearly localized. The transmitters’ range is up to 30 meters. For area-wide precision it is recommended to keep the distances between transmitter and receiver smaller.

The advantages over conventional Real-Time Locating Systems with Ultra Wideband (UWB) are numerous. Beacons consume much less energy. With a simple battery cell they can be kept alive for years. In addition, the BLE technology is significantly cheaper, which provides their users even greater latitude.
